Statement of Faith

For me, my faith is all about Jesus Christ and what He has done for me. It’s about my relationship with Him and I believe and trust that everything rests on Him and on His saving work.

I believe that salvation is completely God's work, from beginning to end. Before the foundation of the world, God chose me in Christ. In His time, He called me to Himself and, through the Holy Spirit, changed my heart, my affections and my desires. He brought me from spiritual death to spiritual life, enabling me to respond to Christ in faith and repentance. Even the faith by which I trust in Christ is itself a gift of God's grace.

I believe that I am saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. I am justified before God, not because of anything good I have done, not because of anything in me but because of Jesus, His perfect life, His death on the cross, His resurrection and all that He has accomplished for me.

But God didn't just save me to leave me where I was. He is still working in me. Day by day, the Holy Spirit is changing me, helping me to become more like Jesus. I know I still get things wrong and that I am far from perfect, but God is not finished with me. One day I will be completely free from sin and be with Him forever.

I believe the Bible is God's Word and that it is completely trustworthy and sufficient. It tells me who God is, who I am because of Christ, and how I am to live for Him. But the Bible isn't just a book to read, it's God's way of affecting the way I live; the way I treat people, the choices I make, and the way I respond when life doesn't go the way I hoped….when life simply gets messy.

Ultimately, my faith in Christ gives me hope and a sense of belonging. I know life can be complicated and messy, and I certainly don't have all the answers, but I'm thankful that I don't have to figure it all out on my own. I trust that God is with me through all of it, and that gives me a lot of peace.
